Why We Stay Stuck & What to Do About it

By October 2, 2017 No Comments
It feels like it’s been forever, doesn’t it?

Forever since you started out with pep under foot to CHANGE your way of life. Or doing business. Eating habits. Exercise routine.

Forever since you said I WILL DO THIS DIFFERENTLY.

Forever since you first had the inkling that you wanted something to be different.

Something more.

Something… magical.

And yet… here we are.
Perhaps things have changed externally, even become a bit better…
… but inside, at the core, things are still null and void.

The passion, the love, the excitement, the zest.
They just.aren’t.there.
Leaving you to wonder, what am I doing wrong?
Where did every right turn I took start feeling like a left?
Blaming yourself.
Questioning your worth.
Wanting to give up entirely and casting the cause on the thought of wanting to change as ludicrous in the first place.
But here’s the thing.

The answer is in the blame.

The questions.

The focus.

The more we focus on what we don’t have, what we haven’t created and what we STILL are NOT, the deeper we dig into our own unconscious wounds that were there far before we set out to make this change.
We continue to dig and dig on top of these wounds…

Opening them to bleed, scar, bleed, scar until we have done this so many times, they feel normal.

These scars become part of us.

In our culture, they are talked about as “battle wounds” and their praise is sung.

But.
They create immobility.
They perpetuate unconsciousness.
They serve as a bandaid that never actually helps the wound to heal.

We stay stuck, because we never bring to the process the only things it ever needed //

  1. Full, unadulterated consciousness. And a commitment to this consciousness no matter how painful it feels in any given moment.
  2. Forgiveness. Full forgiveness of self. Of others. Of circumstances. Of… well… everything that has caused you pain. Now, I am not talking about the *dragging your feet, okay-whatever* type of forgiveness. I am talking about the kind where you go in, see yourself with love and compassion in the moment that hurt you. Forgive yourself for (insert what you have decided about yourself because that situation happened. You’re weak, you’re unlovable, you’re dumb… whatever the situation made you decide) and hold yourself with both arms for at least a minute saying “I completely forgive you, you were doing your best.” Then, imagine the other person who hurt you (if there is another person in this scenario). Look them in the eyes and say “I forgive you. May your pain be illuminated and released. I forgive you, I forgive you, I forgive you.”
  3. Love. Deep, real, complete, present love. Once you have finished the first part of the forgiveness exercise, bring as much love to you both as you possibly can muster. Imagine golden & light pink swirling light and feel the energy of pure presence and love surrounding you. Let it swirl up around them and carry them off into the clouds. Let it swirl up around you and lift you up, up and into a world of pure light. Bask here for as long as you like.

When you’re finished, allow yourself to float back down to earth, imagine jumping on the ground a few times to ground and then be back here, now.

Bring consciousness to it. To everything. Whatever you’re wrestling with, bring full consciousness to it.
Ask how the pain has served you.
Ask why you haven’t been willing to let it go.
Ask who you will become once this pain is no longer part of your life.

Then, take the only step needed.

The step of ultimate, unrelenting courage.

The step where, you release fully into consciousness.

Willing to experience & feel everything.
Willing to let the old, stuck feelings go.
Willing to allow yourself to finally become free.
